Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I'll definitely burn this race to DVD tomorrow before I accidentally delete it. This was probably the best dry race I've seen in years!

Props to the rejuvenated Williams team too. Damn good drive by Bruno Senna! I don't care for him, but good drive by his teammate, Maldonado, too. Both Williams beat both Ferraris in a straight up, dry weather fight.

Superb race. The second half was all edge of the seat stuff - apart from Rosberg right out in front, there were 6 or 7 cars all battling it out for the podium places. Plenty of overtaking action and, somehow, no crashes. Great driving from the entire field. It would have been better if Jenson's final pit stop hadn't been compromised, but you can't have everything.

was the best race in ages,
would've liked to have seen a challenge for the lead, which would have probably happened had button not had the bad pit stop,

but the battles for 2nd to 12th ish place were amazing, and Rosberg had a great weekend too :D

Looking at the layout for Bahrain, I think Mercedes can repeat their success at Shanghai. According to the weather forecast, temperatures will hover around 30 celsius for the entire race weekend. Tire management will be a factor, but it wont be as serious as Malaysia. However, Bahrain is more stressful on brakes.

Happy Birthday to Frank Williams!

Ecclestone also said that a proposed deal that would see the French Grand Prix return to the calendar and alternate year-to-year with the Belgian event at Spa-Francorchamps was a real possibility.

Alternate Spa with a French test track?! :notfair: What's next, alternate Monza with Bahrain ("Boring")?! Maybe alternate Monaco with a parking lot race in Phoenix?! :hairpull: :crash: :cussing:

Or maybe Bernie should spend more time showering gifts on young girls and less time toying with the schedule?!

That sucks! It just wouldn't be the French GP without the Magny-Cours. They dont need to alternate with Spa, they could dump Valencia, Spain doesn't need two races. For the Grand Prix of America, going back to the Watkins Glen would be a damn better idea than creating a whole new track.

As a corner worker at Watkins Glen, I agree completely.

I was wrong. Tire management will be just as serious an issue as it was in Malaysia. I didnt take into account the sand that can be blown onto the track. Also, Pirelli is bringing the soft compounds (yellow band) to Bahrain. Unfortunately, I feel that this race will be won in the pits and not on track. You saw how bad the degradation was in Shanghai, its going to be worse with the desert heat in Bahrain.

McLaren to field Paffett, Turvey at Mugello test

Neither Lewis Hamilton nor Jenson Button will take part in next month’s in-season group test at Mugello, McLaren have revealed. Instead the championship leaders are to field test drivers Gary Paffett and Oliver Turvey.

The three-day session at the Italian circuit, which all 12 teams are expected to attend, has been added to this year’s official test schedule following a change to the regulations for 2012. Previously, in-season testing was forbidden.

Both Paffett’s and Turvey’s last official McLaren outing was at the Yas Marina young driver test back in November. DTM star Paffett, 31, joined the team in 2005. Fellow Briton Turvey, 25, first tested with the Woking squad in 2009 and earlier this year had the honour of giving the new MP4-27 its first straight-line run.

The Mugello test takes place on May 01-03, 2012.

Wonder if we're going to see great racing this weekend or if the track is going to be as boring as in the past....

57 lap race distance. No word on where the DRS zone(s) will be. Valtteri Bottas will run in P1 in the place of Bruno Senna.
