Now, a fun interaction I had with a man a couple of months back I (f19) work as a cashier in a pharmacy. For non Americans, it's more like a small grocery store where we sell food, healthcare products, and beauty things (think of like CVS). This one time, I was working the register when a man of approximately my age came to pay for his things. Then I don't remember how we got to the subject, but we ended up talking about ToTK. It was super fun because we were both really into it, and we spent like five minutes talking. Mind you, we didn't know each other. After that, I noticed someone was waiting, so I said my goodbyes to the guy, and he left. He never made me uncomfortable, and it was one of the best interactions I had. The funny part is that the customer just after asked if we knew each other, and I just said that no, we just like the same video game. Anyway, thanks a lot for your videos. I really like your soothing voice. Also, you're a wonderful person who isn't ashamed to criticise other people's actions. ❤
Oh, mygod, that anime convention story. Just LISTENING to it third-hand, I could feel my fight-or-flight response waking up. If I WAS her in that situation...I would SCREAMED AND SCREAMED AND SCREAMED AND SCREAMED my face off, not in any spicy way, but out of sheer TERROR, at being TRAPPED, penned in, nowhere to go, surrounded by CREEPINESS, and screamed and screamed until I was hoarse and couldn't breathe anymore, hopefully causing either a space around me of in-pain creeps with their hands over their ears to open up, or a con security person to come over and see what's wrong. Then I would've said EFF the amount of money I paid to get here, and gone. HOME. I just....no. That whole scene triggers off primal TERROR in me. All I can think to do is to react the way you do in a NIGHTMARE, because it is one, only real. And in a nightmare or horror movie, you scream.
My sister once went to a convention cosplaying as Felicia from Darkstalkers. I am surprised that people were so chill about it. I mean, that cosplay is so revealing - the only thing that could have been more revealing would have been if she came to the convention naked. But no incidents with creepy guys at all. People all seemed to know how to behave.
Hal-Con, in Halifax, Nova Scotia (the only one I ever get to go to :P) has a zero tolerance for harassment or unwelcome touching, I am thrilled that the convention has (so far) seemed to be attended by very respectful individuals!
Day 2 of assembling a massive wardrobe in my spare room. It needs to be assembled on the floor so I've moved everything out of the way and now I can't open the door so I'm trapped in the bedroom. The air is getting thin and I miss my family. I'll have to sleep in one of the drawers tonight and start the final ascent tomorrow.
The funny thing about " he must think every woman he talks to is leading him on" is that in my experience with guys like that, they only think you are leading them on if they find you attractive. But I don't think that's surprising, considering this entire attitude is based on being self-centered and lacking self-awareness.
Of course they don't think women they find unattractive are leading them on, because they will never actually bother talking to women they don't find attractive in the first place. They base their interactions around shallowness then complain about women being the shallow ones.
First anime convention I went to was in 2012. Had a guy dressed as SpongeBob try to unhook my bra to prove he could do it (no one asked him to), he tried grinding on me later because I looked sad & thought that would help cheer me up 🤨 Also got flirted with+ took a pic with Vic Migogna without paying for the meet n greet (he’s a voice actor and well known predator now). They’ve gotten much better at dealing with sexual harassment in the past 11 years at my local con I definitely feel safer than before
God. If a woman flat out says no, she's a b*tch. If she's nice to him, or tries to turn him down gently, she's "leading him on". What is wrong with these types of guys? Do they not realise that the world does not revolve around them? Yeah, rejection in hard, but you can choose to let it ruin your mood or not.
There's a guy in my highschool and he's definitely a neckbeard. He was in my cinema class and he thought that he was better than everyone else and would constantly make comments about my friends (that's BAD media, see i lije good media and you dont) and he called my friends SHALLOW? After insilting them ofc
I REALLY don't like the cosplay/convention story but not because of the neckbeards. OP/boyfriend really bothers me. Why does he think gf dressing like a playboy bunny in a room full of neckbeards was going to end well? I feel like he was using her as a prop. His flex, "look at how hot my gf is". Gross.
It's pretty understandable to want to show off your partner. I mean they're one of the most important people and seeing the succeed in any way is gratifying. So the idea of "let's show off a little more" is stupid but probably not him trying to flex for himself. Plus at the core he probably just wanted to see her in a sexy cosplay all day lmao.
I've honest to god never encountered a single person who unironically used "kawaii" or other Japanese words as a non-Japanese person, it's just too cringe for anyone to sincerely say weeb-isms like that, and I hope I never do for the rest of my life - I'd be guaranteed to die of second-hand embarrassment. And Jesus Christ, don't lie about having cancer, that's just absolutely disgusting and belittles the pain that cancer actually has on people.
Sick today so I'm at home laying in bed running a fever but listening to Vincey makes me better. Love all of your stories and that adorable accent 🥰. Thanks for making my sick day a little better.
19:17 Reminds me of when I got lost at a hotel resort with my mother at night when I was a kid and while following it around, it led us back to the entrance 😆
I was listening and not watching for a second while the wholesome meme about the cat guiding a hiker was playing and I thought they meant that there were GUIDES who were CATS and they lost a hiker. I was so confused as to why everyone was calling them heroes and so great 😂 it’s early for me..
Just because a girl likes anime, doesn't automatically mean she's innocent, like what in the actual creepy fantasy- 😂 She might like both anime and reading saucy things for all they know. I hate the whole fetishism on "innocence" 🤮
Yeah, one of the big appeals of nerdy women is the non-zero chance that they could be secretly 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂. That and the fact that she might share some of the same interests and hyperfixations as you. No normal person wants an *Innocent GF™*
Yes, do you remember the scene from the Swan Princess movie where the prince guy tells Odette that she's beautiful and when she asks "what else?" he literally says "What else is there?" Yeah I had an argument with a dude that swore up and down that it was romantic, that Odette was wrong for not taking the compliment, that all women love being told that, that any women who argued against him has very experienced such romance and we should feel depressed about it, etc. They legitimately think that leering at women and commenting on strangers looks should reward them with ample coochy.
I watch Vincey's videos late at night just before going to bed, it is a good way of winding down. Give a neckbeard a finger, and they take the whole hand. I have unfortunately had some experience with this. I'm glad there are some wholesome memes by the end.
1:41 To lead one on, you have to you know... lead them. Not have them approach you and follow you around 😂 what? You cant initiate the conversation and then accuse someone of leading you on.
