I have been wondering what took them so long to announce the new season.

I.G have been working on quite a few projects since S4 aired. Probably wanted to take a year or two off from production to work on other stuff before continuing the series.

@_cjessop19_ I thought IG was big enough to do both, especially since LoGH doesnt even get all that many episodes in a row.

Or rather they could have announced it anyway, its not like its coming out next season.

@NaughtySempai It'll take a similar time to complete just like the OVA. As long as it's one of IG's top money makers, I see no reason that they won't go all the way

i wouldnt want to enter a series that is yet to finish(and have chances that it will get complete adaptation).

@Comander-07 They release quite a few anime each year. The gap between S2 movie 3 release and S3 start was just over 2 years. When S2 was announced, it took around 18 months to release it. So my guess is they take at least a couple of seasons off before starting the next LotGH project.

They could continually work on it alongside other anime, but I guess there are behind the scenes logistics that we don't know of for what it takes to start the production of the show.

@_cjessop19_ Now that Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 is out, we know that LOGH team was busy with making that throughout 2023. Production of the upcoming LOGH season should have gone into full swing some time ago when KnT 3 was completed. I wouldn't be surprised if the new LOGH comes out during spring, like Gekitotsu did.
