Greetings all. I have plans to create a Digimon fangame. Currently, this project is completely in the phase of "story, concept, and a little bit of art".

I am deciding between whether to make this an RPGMaker game with VN-esque choices here and there or a full-fledged Visual Novel. Currently leaning into the former.

Story Plans thus far:
You, our faceless hero, have ended up in the Digital World alongside the Digimon partner in your Digivice. This here is a strange, mostly-wild world. You can choose to survive, or to have fun!
During your journey, you will encounter three lovely girls who seem to be from the human world, just like you, all stranded in this world with Digimon partners of their own.

Basically, the idea is that you can choose to romance and have sex with these three heroines, or if you play your cards right, your own Digimon. I'm still trying to figure out the evolutionary lines for the protagonist's Digimon, such as whether they should all end in/contain female humanoid Digimon or if only one line should. I intend for the protagonist's Digimon to split between three evolutionary paths.

All three girls are characters original to this setting. The Digimon are portrayals of familiar faces.

If this is to become a turn-based RPG, the four combatant slots will be occupied by your partner Digimon and the three girls' partner Digimon. You have the usual options and also the option to Digivolve based on forms you've unlocked. Digivolution does eat away at a certain bar once per turn (whether it will be the MP bar itself or a third, seperate Digivolution-related bar remains to be seen), with higher forms eating away at more.

Do drop some suggestions, such as what Digimon you would like to see in this project.

Rather than an "Actual" Digital World? How about more to a "Distorted" one where you can actually put your own anthropomorphized Digimons with a lore "SOMEONE or SOMETHING" made a copy of "Digital World" for whatever the reason, and/or having Protagonist to have some kind of special power to "MOD" those "Digitalized Mobsters".
(Not really prefer to use the word "HACK" since it's kind of overused nowadays, and "Corrupt" doesn't sounds right either)

I would say that unless the combat helps add to the erotic tension in some way then it is going to get complained about a lot. I tend to agree with the complainers. If a gameplay mechanism doesn't serve the core function of the game, I don't like seeing it.

I had not noticed these replies a few months after the fact. Thank you.

This idea smells like something with potential. What if I were to explore this concept, but these anthropomorphizations are presented as a new type of Digivolution that only our protagonist can induce?

Then RPG is a must, for early version of the game, only have one-and-only digimon with its digivolution tree ofc, a dark/flipped variation dgvl is also a must. But later versions should at least have another 2 for picking, each with their own personality and story twist.
Well, either player should only have one partner digimon or multiple throughout the story. That can be left for future, once the development actually starts.

Just in case to clear misunderstanding, when I mentioned "Anthromoph" it just means "Human-like/sized Furries that only had Skull/Hands/Feet and ofc + Tails difference". I had no concept of "Deforming" back then, so no thin-slender, and no shortstack-like original-made digimons.
Unless I already did the re-designs... Which I haven't, yet.
